PS Audio aspen FR30 speakers are very expensive
US $ 28,499 doesn’t even seem like a crazy price considering how many high-end $ 50,000 speakers there are currently, but the PS Audio trembles FR30 Speakers are definitely on the more expensive side of the ledger.
There is a market for $ 30,000 speakers or the manufacturers wouldn’t make them; Wilson Audio, DeVore, Focal, Tidal, JBL, McIntosh, Sonus faber, Goldmund and a dozen other brands have several models in this lineup and people (albeit a small number) keep buying them.
If you can afford to spend $ 28,499 on the PS Audio aspen FR30, there are some pretty cool features that are worth your attention. If you decide to buy a pair⦠make sure you have 3-4 people around to help you set up these 230 pound floorstanding speakers (PS Audio does not specify if this is for the pair).
Marking a milestone for the company, PS Audio today announced the introduction of its Aspen FR30 speaker., an elegantly slim 3-way ground tower that incorporates magnetic and dynamic planar pilots and a host of innovative technologies to deliver extraordinary musical realism.
The new FR30 features all new mid and high frequency push-pull planar magnetic transducers, complemented by ultra-low distortion, fast response woofers and passive radiators. The FR30 is striking in appearance, with a unique modular design that combines sonic advantages with ease of transport and installation.
Paul McGowan, CEO of PS Audio, said: âThe Aspen FR30 is the culmination of years of careful development and many hours of listening and reviewing. Our design goal was to create a speaker that easily integrates and performs best in the widest range of rooms and listening environments, and delivers benchmark quality clarity, detail and tonal precision, as well as effortless dynamics and most importantly, emotionally compelling musical reproduction. . ”
The FR30 incorporates a custom planar push-pull magnetic midrange transducer and two high-frequency transducers, which feature an identical symmetrical motor structure on either side of their control diaphragms. This inherently linear configuration provides lower distortion than conventional single-sided magnetic structures, as well as higher efficiency.
Mid-range and high-frequency drivers use high-strength N52 neodymium magnets with Teonex diaphragms® film, a thin and very stable material that offers exceptional transient response and resolution, with fast and clean decay. The speakers are housed in a sealed sub-enclosure module and their performance is optimized through the use of aramid fiber damping material.
The PS Audio Apsen FR30 uses four 8-inch die-cast aluminum cone woofers with 12 lb magnets. The woofer’s motor structure features split magnetic space and dual Faraday rings for improved linearity and wider bandwidth, and the articulate and agile response of the woofers complements the speed and transparency of the midrange and high frequency planar magnets.
The woofers are complemented by four 10-inch passive side radiators, for authoritative low-frequency extension. The FR30 features an easy-to-drive load with a sensitivity of 87 dB, making it ideal for use with a wide range of amplifiers.
The housing has a unique modular design. The midrange / tweeter section contains the acoustically isolated crossover array and the section is removable, making shipping and setup easy.
The FR30 offers a visually distinctive “floating” appearance, with a curved bottom and complementary anodized aluminum bracket with milled brass soundproofing tips. Hard plastic feet are provided for use on hard surfaces and to facilitate initial speaker placement.
The housing is made from heavily reinforced MDF with a front baffle formed from a dense, stiff and well-cushioned fiberglass resin composite material. Integrated high frequency acoustic waveguides are molded into the baffle to provide optimal horizontal and vertical dispersion and smooth frequency balance both on and off axis.
The PS Audio aspen FR30 speaker will be available in spring 2022 in a choice of Pearl White or Sable Black finishes.
